Master Bathroom

My first project is my master bathroom. I'm going from boring white walls, to hopefully what turns out to be a spa-like feel. Just a reminder to everyone that is new to my blog, which is everyone since I just started it today, I am finding ideas on home decorating blogs and then I'm copying them to fit my space. I have a list a mile long and not enough hours in a week to get them all completed.

I have realized that I need to break the spaces up into little pieces and work on one piece at a time, rather than the whole room. This will help me keep my focus and get the project finished.

Up first is the toilet area... Here is the inspiration pic I found a few months ago. If you know who's bathroom this is, please let me know so I can give it proper credit! I copied it before I planned on making a blog and despite endless searching, I can't find it again. I have learned my lesson and I won't do it again, promise!

I absolutely fell in love with the DIY shelf and I knew I had to incorporate it into my bathroom!

Here is the before that I was starting with:

I stained a piece of plywood from Home Depot, then I screwed it into the wall. Next I screwed on 3 glass shelves (also purchased from Home Depot) and added accessories.

And then a side by side comparison:

I LOVE it!!! So what do you think?

The DIY Showoff!
Over the past few months I have discovered home decorating blogs. Oh boy, I'm in love and in trouble! Unfortunately, Kyle isn't feeling the love as much as I am. Every time I find something I like, it turns into a new project on my never ending list and I'm wanting to redo things I specifically picked out for my house when we were in the building stage.

The main problem with trying to decorate my home is - I lack vision and creativity. I know a lot of people say this, but I never like what I originally pick out and it ends up being redone over and over again. So I'm taking a different approach now. I'm finding things I love on home decor blogs and I'm copying them. Yup, I'm not too proud to admit it! I'm a horrible decorater and I will get through this by stealing other people's ideas. Seriously, I should have named this blog - "Decorating My Home One Stolen Idea at a Time", but really...I will give credit along the way to all of those fabulous designers who have helped turn my plain, boring, builder's white walls into something my family calls Home.

What do you do when you're going from this:

Well here's what I did...I freaked out a little (because that's what I do), and then I tried to put a plan into place. My need list (ok maybe it's a want list) grew enormous by the day and the more I looked at it, the more I freaked. More than double the space and now I have to figure out how to fill it and make it look good. Whew! This is going to be a BIG project and of course I don't want to take anything from the old house, so I'm starting from scratch. This is my journey.
